What it actually is
Capy Teahouse is a boba shop that also does ramen, fresh pastries and coffee, decorated wall to wall in capybaras, with a retail wall of plushies, tumblers and apparel. Then there are more than fifty claw machines and a photo booth.
It is not a quiet coffee shop and it is not trying to be. The nearest reference point is a Japanese game centre that learned to make a decent milk tea. If you wanted somewhere to sit with a laptop, this is the wrong room.
No animals, and it does not pretend otherwise
There is no capybara on the premises. The name is the theme, and unlike a couple of entries in this directory the branding never suggests otherwise.
Illinois is also not a state where a hands-on capybara cafe is likely to appear. If you want the animal, the realistic drives from Chicago are Wilderness Trails Zoo in Michigan or Lake Tobias in Pennsylvania, both of which are in the zoos section here.
