What you get
Busy B Ranch runs a short, guided capybara encounter – about fifteen minutes to feed, pet, and photograph the capybaras – added on to general admission at the wider East Texas wildlife park in Jefferson. It is affordable at around $30 per person on top of admission, and easygoing rather than a big production.
The brevity is the feature, not a flaw. If you just want to pet a capybara without committing to a long, expensive session, this is a clean, no-fuss way to do it.
Plan around the park
Because the encounter is brief by design, build the rest of the day around the park itself – as a petting-zoo-style place, there is plenty else to see. The capybara bit slots into a broader visit rather than being the whole trip.
Hours shift by day of the week, with shorter mid-week times (Tuesday to Thursday close at 14:00, other days at 16:00), so check the day you are going. There is also a minimum age of around seven for the encounter, so confirm before bringing younger kids.
