Thirty supervised minutes feeding the capybaras and giving them a gentle scratch, with a keeper explaining what they are doing and why. It runs alongside a tapir experience the zoo launched at the same time, which tells you where the two species sit in the same habitat.
Half an hour is the longest standard capybara slot we have found in the UK. Wingham gives you fifteen minutes; Wild Discovery gives you ten to twenty.
The experience fee does not include a day ticket. You buy both. That is normal for UK zoos and abnormal compared to Wingham in Kent, which bundles park entry into its £80 and £140 prices.
Work out the real total before comparing the headline numbers, because on a like-for-like basis the gap between the UK venues narrows a lot.
